Almighty Summit Estate is an island of solitude on top of Anarchist Summit Mountain in Osoyoos overlooking the valley and surrounding mountains.
This estate is right along the US border and you can even see an American town from the top of this mountain.
A truly UNIQUE place to stay that I can guarantee you, you won’t find anything like this anywhere!
A lovely gentleman named Ulric got in touch with me after reading my blog post on the Hobbit House and invited me to stay and experience his beautiful estate.
I really did not know what to expect but it definitely exceeded my expectations!
From Vancouver to the Almighty Summit Estate it will be about a 5-hour drive depending on the traffic. It can be very tricky to find especially at night time!
The estate is 30km east of downtown Osoyoos along Crowsnest Highway. Look out for the 6 white trees and the 6080 sign on the right side of the road.
Once you reach the entrance of the driveway keep driving the long bumpy driveway up to the top of the mountain keeping to the right.
Eventually, you will see a house on the right, drive past this house up to the top, and there you will be welcomed by Ulric the owner of the property.
Even though it was 10 pm by the time we arrived at the estate Ulric invited us into his house for a drink.
I have never met anyone like him! He had some amazing stories to share with us and some incredible travel experiences.
Ulric has lived an interesting life and is a great storyteller! He was so entertaining that we spent a couple of hours listening to his stories. Ulric’s positivity and enthusiasm about life is contagious and he is very inspiring!
Throughout our stay, he was always checking to make sure that we were having a good time and if we needed anything. I could not ask for a better host and I can see that it comes from years of hospitality experience.
Ulric told me that when he had found my blog and read my article he thought to himself “Now here is a girl that thinks outside the box”.
Since I started writing my blog this has been the biggest compliment I have received especially coming from a man with a lot of life and travel experience.
After our chat with Ulric, we were shown to the Sunrise Suite where we stayed for 2 nights. The suite has a very rustic feel to it, a lot of character and almost feels like you’re staying in a treehouse.
The suite was spacious with a full kitchen, a dining room, toilet room, bathroom, lounge room, three bedrooms upstairs, and an outside patio. It is a perfect place for couples, families, or a group of friends!
In the morning we sat outside near the fireplace eating crepes for breakfast, drinking mimosas, and enjoying the million-dollar view of the valley and mountains. Make sure to bring food for your stay as you are completely “off the grid”.
Everywhere you look the view is STUNNING, it is so peaceful listening to the birds and crickets chirping.
Ulric showed us around his estate and we saw the live music event venue he designed. It’s 2-stories with a stage for live performances downstairs. Around the stage are antique lounges and instruments.
The upstairs holds many tables and chairs that could be used for a wedding reception or any event. It has open windows with gorgeous views of the valley and mountains.
Near his house is a place to hold wedding ceremonies with an open bar, a small glass room, and a place to put a gazebo.
Ulric also showed us a second house attached to his house that he rents out.
Ulric holds a volunteer program on his property. Volunteers from anywhere in the world can work on his property and have a place to stay, food to eat and learn some skills. The volunteers stay in his youth hostel on his property.
There are plenty of animals on the property from wild animals such as grouse, chipmunks, and mice to pet animals dogs, cats, and horses. Ulric owns a St Bernard dog named Condor and he is the cutest friendliest biggest dog I have ever met!
For dinner, we bought up a variety of cheese and meats and made our own charcuterie board! We also bought up a box of wine to pair nicely with it.
Due to the fire bans, we were unable to have a fire outside. Ulric did give us the OK to have a fire inside which is exactly what we did.
The house can get quite chilly at night but having a fire warms the place up!
We had a romantic night sitting by the fire, surrounded by candles, playing cards, drinking wine, and listening to romantic songs from the ’50s. I love nights like these, they are the memories you will always remember!
Ulric loves fireplaces and candles, he has many fireplaces around his estate and a large selection of candle holders around the house.
One thing that we try to do as a couple is from time to time just the two of us go somewhere remote and away from modern-day distractions and just be with each other, enjoying each other’s company.
The stars here are incredible because you are in the middle of nowhere, where there is no pollution, and no trees to block your view of the vast sky. I could have stared at the stars for hours. Right above the bed is an open window so you can fall asleep staring at the stars.
Staying at the Almighty Summit Estate is very much a part of nature. It’s for people that enjoy places that are different and unique!
Ulric’s inspirational quote is “Be yourself, think outside the box, follow your instinct and live every second”. His estate summed those words right up!
I love UNIQUE places to stay and one of a kind! This place in Osoyoos was definitely that and a memorable experience.
