Sandpiper Resort Rowena’s Inn is by far the BEST place to stay in Harrison! Their classic rustic cabins are unique and absolutely divine to stay in for a romantic getaway! Rowena’s Inn is situated right along Harrison River which gives each cabin an incredible view of this beautiful river!
There are a variety of rooms to stay in on the property however I recommend spending your getaway either in one of their Rustic Classic Cabins or a Luxury Cottage. We stayed in one of their cozy romantic Rustic Cabins during winter which you can read more about below. Also included in this blog post are things to do near Rowena’s Inn.
Rowena’s Inn on the River is located in Harrison and is about a 90-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The drive to Rowena’s Inn through the Fraser Valley is incredibly SCENIC!
Only a 20-minute drive away from Rowena’s Inn is Harrison Hot Springs. You should definitely plan to soak in the hot springs while you are in Harrison!
The best time to stay at Sandpiper Resort Rowena’s Inn is during the winter months. Personally, I think it’s more romantic and you can make good use of the amazing wood-burning fireplace!
If you’re travelling during the winter season (mid-November through to mid-April) make sure your car has winter tires. This is important as you will not be allowed to drive on some roads without them.

Rowena’s Inn is pretty historic. It was built in the 1920s and was owned by the Pretty Family! What an awesome last name! The Inn was named after the owner Charles’ wife, Rowena and now each room is named after one of their children.

When you arrive at Rowena’s Inn park in the parking lot of the main reception. Once you check-in you will get your own free parking spot outside your cabin.
Watch the below video I posted on Tik Tok to see for yourself how cozy and romantic these cabins are!
Their rustic cabins include a WOOD-BURNING fireplace, deep jacuzzi bathtub, king-size bed, and a private patio with a view of Harrison River. We were lucky to get the cabin closest to Harrison Lake (the Nelson cabin).
We paid around CAD 350 a night which included a deluxe breakfast for the both of us and a bottle of wine!
The cabins are situated right on Harrison Lake, perfect for a stroll with your loved one. You will see plenty of bald eagles flying around!
Come prepared and bring a selection of cheese and crackers, wine, candles, lush bath bombs, cards/board games, and a music speaker. Our romantic evening started off enjoying our delicious cheese and meat platter and drinking fine wine in front of the wood-burning fire.
It was so romantic sitting in the bathtub surrounded by candles, listening to Frank Sinatra, and drinking wine. After we had some relaxing bath time we sat in front of the fire playing cards, melting marshmallows and I even tried S’mores for the first time!
In the morning enjoy the view with a warm cup of tea or coffee in front of the electric fire outside the Clubhouse Restaurant. The buffet breakfast is so delicious here! They had homemade shepherd’s pie, roast potato, honey ham and so much more.
Harrison Hot Springs and Healing Springs Spa is a must-visit destination on your getaway in Harrison!
Othello Tunnels is about a 50-minute drive from Rowena’s Inn on the River. It’s located in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park in Hope. The old train tunnels and bridges are fun to walk through and the scenery is STUNNING!
It does get quite dark in the tunnels so don’t forget to bring a flashlight unless you want to experience the fun of being in total darkness. It is a weird feeling walking through the eery dark tunnels! You can see the light at the end of the tunnel but the walk feels like it’s never going to end.
The walk can take from 20 minutes to an hour depending on your pace, photo stops and moments you take to admire the natural beauty of your surroundings.
If you are travelling back to Vancouver Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park is a great stop along the way.
It’s a short and easy 10-minute walk to the waterfall and an extra 5 minutes to climb to the top if you want to stand right under the waterfall. Be careful when climbing to the top because it’s really slippery!
The waterfall is 60 meters high covering a wide area of smooth rock face creating a veil-like effect. If you do climb and stand right under the waterfall it’s impossible to get the entire waterfall in a photo!
Rowena’s Inn was one of the most romantic weekends I’ve experienced in British Columbia and visiting Harrison Hot Springs made it even more amazing! I hope after reading this article you are convinced to book a stay at Sandpiper Resort Rowena’s Inn :)
