Did you know that you can stay in a Hobbit House in Bridesville? I have always wanted to go to Hobbiton in New Zealand so I was intrigued when I came across this place on Air BnB. Nestled in a remote town called Bridesville is this real-life replica of the Hobbit House in Lord of the Rings!
The Hobbit House is located in a small town called Bridesville in British Columbia It’s about a 30-minute drive from Osoyoos and a 5-hour drive from Vancouver.
Here is the Air BnB listing to book your stay – Second Breakfast Hideaway. It costs around CAD 550 per night to stay and is totally worth every cent! You will never get another experience quite like this!
You can book to stay at the Second Breakfast Hideaway any time of the year. I visited in the summer and I loved seeing how much detail had gone into making it look like a real-life Hobbit House on the outside as opposed to it being covered in snow.
It would have been a completely different experience staying in the winter and next time I would love to visit at this time!
I was so excited as we were driving onto the property when I saw the cows and the acres of empty land. This place is out in the middle of nowhere! Being out of the city and away from people was so peaceful and relaxing.
As we pulled up outside the Hobbit House my husband and I both felt as if we were at THE SHIRE! Out in the lush green land and nestled underground was this amazing Hobbit House that looked exactly like the one in the movie.
When we arrived our host Christina was there ready to greet us! Christina is a friendly host! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay.
The attention to detail in this place is INSANE! You’ll have to visit for yourself to see all the Lord of the Rings references in this Hobbit House!
The place has everything you need a toaster, kettle, microwave, coffeemaker, fridge, BBQ utensils, foil, cutlery, cups, plates, etc. Even tea, coffee, and milk are included in your stay.
The only thing you will need to bring is your own food.
At dusk, we set the romantic mood by lighting all the battery-operated candles in the place and turning on the electric fire.
You can take a stroll around the property to see the cows! There is no TV but there are plenty of board games and books to keep entertained. They even have The Hobbit books to read.
Since the Hobbit House is underground it can get a little chilly inside especially at night and even in summer. There is plenty to keep warm though, there are blankets, a heater, and an electric fire.
Unfortunately, because of the fire bans, we weren’t able to have a fire in the fire pit outside. You can check with the host whether you can have a fire when you visit.
There’s an outside BBQ you can use so make sure to bring some food as you are a little far away from civilization. If you need to pick up some food then the closest grocery store is in Osoyoos which is 30 minutes away!
It was SO romantic having a candlelit dinner outside and then laying blankets and pillows down on the table looking up at the night sky and stargazing.
I got to see my first shooting star and saw many that night! The sky is so clear out there and it is known to be one of the BEST places to see stars in British Columbia!
I had the best sleep at the Hobbit House the bed was super comfortable and the place felt so cozy. In the morning we enjoyed a cup of tea sitting on the wooden chairs outside by the fire pit watching the cows.
It’s so nice to do something different, to go someplace in the middle of nowhere and there’s no better place to do that than the Hobbit House in Bridesville!
Since there is no TV or Wifi if you want to unplug from the electronic world and just be in nature then this is the perfect place!
My stay in the Hobbit House was relaxing, romantic, and peaceful. I hope I get the chance to go back again!
Nk’Mip Cellars is the most beautiful spot to eat lunch, especially in the summer months!
You will need to make a reservation and you can do that by phoning them or by email. Nk’Mip Cellars is located up in the mountains of Osoyoos and has the most gorgeous view.
While eating your lunch you will have a view of the vineyard and Osoyoos Lake with the mountains in the background. So pretty!
Some tables outside have umbrellas and some don’t so if you’re visiting in the summer make sure to wear cool clothes and sunscreen as it gets very hot!
I had the best Chardonnay I have ever tasted at Nk’Mip Cellars! The bottle of 2018 Chardonnay was easy to drink and not too sweet. The Salmon and Fry Bread dish on the menu paired nicely with this bottle of refreshing wine!
The food at Nk’Mip Cellars is delicious. The Bison Steak Sandwich with the feature soup is tasty! Everything about this restaurant is incredible including the service!
After lunch, you can take a walk around the vineyard. The servers will direct you to the gate of the vineyard.
Spotted Lake is about 40 minutes from the Hobbit House past Osoyoos on the way back to Vancouver and is on the left side of Crowsnest Highway.
There isn’t anywhere to park except a little gravel area on the right side of the road just past it.
The lake is on private property but you can view it from the highway. Be careful of cars if you plan to stop here.
Spotted Lake is full of minerals and during the summer months the water in the lake evaporates and that causes these spots on the lake. The spots change in size and colour as the minerals changes with evaporation. Colours can range from blue to green to yellow! It’s fascinating!
You will see so many fresh fruit stands along the road in the town of Keremeos.
Even if you miss one there will be plenty more as you pass through the town and out. We bought our fruit from Gerry’s Fruit and Veg which is located just as you are exiting the town.
There is a lot of variety of fruit here and so fresh! We got some cherries, blueberries, nectarines, and peaches for the way home!
The Hobbit House in Bridesville is something I will never forget. The experience was so UNIQUE! It felt so romantic to be in the middle of nowhere just the two of us!
